Test Engineer II

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of engineering work including such areas as design, production manufacturing, test, calibration and efficiency.

Responsibilities of Position:

  1. As required by the business, works with various products, equipment and disciplines.
  2. Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures.
  3. Works on complex and somewhat routine assignments to develop skills and demonstrate technical judgment.
  4. Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  5. May lead and direct the work of others.
  6. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  7. Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities of Position:

  1. Interface with test requestors for test submissions; enter/track test submissions using laboratory test request database system.
  2. Configure necessary hardware and specialized test equipment as needed to complete assigned testing and provide technical know-how on particular products.
  3. Operate systems and specialized test equipment.
  4. Prepare quotes for requestors.
  5. Obtain quotes from outside vendors and prepare purchase orders for approval.
  6. Prepare and review reports on test results and problems.
  7. Monitor and update test processes; assist in the review of test processes as they are developed, and perform other test-related tasks.
  8. Provide technical expertise in testing and product knowledge.
  9. Write test procedures when required and developing test plans.

Skill Requirements:

  1. 5 plus years related experience.
  2. Self-directed with a high degree of self- motivation.
  3. Proficient computer skills and abilities with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
  4. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:

  1. Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Regular and predictable attendance.
  2. Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:

  1. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 50 pounds.
  2. Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting and bending.
  3. Works within an automotive components manufacturing laboratory setting and may be exposed to heat, cold and fumes/chemicals.


Minimum of BSME or related engineering degree.
