Regional Operations Director

Position Summary:

The Operations Director is designated to represent TI Fluid Systems’ operations structure within the region. Accountable for directing all regional operations, including safety, quality, manufacturing cost, and plant performance; so, that a maximum turnover can be realized with minimum costs and maximum satisfaction of the customers. The region is growing and requires strong leadership with great attention to local cultures.

Responsibilities of Position:

  1. Regularly travels up to 70% to plant and customer sites in the region.

  2. Responsible for directing and coaching all Plant Managers to achieve their P&L.

  3. Responsible for manufacturing engineering, capacity planning & implementing TI standards in manufacturing.

  4. Prepares and manages budgets and MTPs (Mid Term Plans) with Plant Managers.

  5. Plans, directs and coordinates all operations activities within the region.

  6. Directs the development and implementation of operating and manufacturing standards and goals on a plant-by-plant basis in support of the business plan for the region.

  7. Reviews and evaluates cost-effectiveness, consistency, quality, accuracy, and performance against standards and acts as necessary to correct discrepancies.

  8. Assures effective customer service and relations at the plant level.

  9. Implements processes to deliver quality products on time.

  10. Assures compliance of plants’ operations with company policy, country regulations, and divisional targets.

  11. Establishes the flow of information to evaluate plant performance and provide production planning with sales information, trends, costs, and future transactions.

  12. Manages Operational performance against agreed targets and budgets, within policies and standards.

  13. Actively participates in business and strategic planning to represent assigned areas of accountability.

  14. Liaise and co-operate with other departments, divisions, and external suppliers to provide and/or facilitate operational input.

  15. Performs those activities necessary for the effective management of the regional operations, including effective working relationships, provision for the selection and development of employees, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, and organizational goals and objectives. Also, actively participates in business and strategic planning to represent assigned areas of accountability.

  4. Broad background in manufacturing technology and line operating experience.

  5. In-depth understanding of production administration functions including accounting, engineering, and human resources.

  6. Assures the application of all production, test, development, documentation, and safety standards.

  7. Coordinates with and between manufacturing accounting, production control, engineering, maintenance, and other departments in the accomplishment of production goals.

  8. Strong communications skills – ability to interact and communicate at all levels, with effective upward and downward communications skills demonstrated to interface with all levels of management.

  9. Ability to manage multiple employees so that objectives are met.

  10. Maintain the capability to formulate and implement solutions to design problems.

  11. Ability to plan and execute effectively.

  12. Self-directed with a high degree of self-motivation.

  13. Proficient computer skills and abilities with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or business-related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  2. Minimum of 10 years of operations experience.

  3. Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience.

  4. General knowledge of IATF16949 standards as they pertain to this position.

Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:

  1. Valid driver’ license and passport.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:

  1. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 10 pounds.

  2. Some of the work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.

  3. Works within an automotive components manufacturing office setting and may be exposed to heat, cold, and fumes/chemicals.

  4. Flexibility to travel occasionally (up to 25%), sometimes with less than 24 hours’ notice.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or business-related field; Master’s degree preferred.
